Is tummy liposuction possible under local anaesthesia?

      ASKED BY
      rbl1237
      DATE
      30/01/25

    Expert’s Advice

Yes, it is possible to perform abdominal liposuction under local anesthesia (infiltrative anesthesia) if specifically requested by the patient. However, with the advancements in anesthesia techniques over the last decade, general anesthesia (GA) is now the preferred approach for such procedures. Modern anesthetic drugs are fast-acting and minimally interfering, allowing for quicker recovery.

Abdominal liposuction under GA is often performed as a day-care surgery, meaning patients wake up quickly after anesthesia and recover faster, which has made day-care surgeries increasingly popular. While GA is generally recommended for its comfort and efficiency, local anesthesia remains a viable option for those who prefer it.

      Divya Rathi

    Expert’s Advice

Like any surgical procedure, arm lift surgery (brachioplasty) has potential side effects, including swelling, bruising, temporary numbness, scarring, and a risk of infection. In some cases, there may be asymmetry, delayed wound healing, or fluid accumulation. Following post-operative care instructions can help minimize these risks.

    ASKED BY

After double chin liposuction, skin tightening depends on factors like age, skin elasticity, and the extent of fat removal. Younger individuals with good skin elasticity typically experience natural contraction, while older individuals or those with less elastic skin may notice some looseness. If significant laxity is a concern, additional procedures like skin tightening treatments or a neck lift may be needed.

      ASKED BY
      Sachin Rajput

      14/11/24

    Expert’s Advice

Since you're 17, there's a good chance that your gynecomastia might improve on its own as your hormones stabilize. If it's a very small gland and not bothering you much, you can wait and monitor it for some time. Regular exercise and maintaining a healthy weight can also help.

However, if it persists beyond 18-19 years or increases in size, then surgery might be the best option for a permanent solution.

      DATE
      04/03/24

    Expert’s Advice

Hey! Feeling some hardness or swelling up to 5 weeks after surgery is common and part of the healing process (scar tissue).
If the gland has been properly removed, then the chances of gynecomastia returning are very low.

Right now, there is no need for any hormonal tests. Your full healing process will take around 3-4 months, so don’t worry. You will notice gradual changes every week.
Make sure not to miss your follow-up appointments!
You can also ask your doctor about massage, as they can guide you on that.

      ASKED BY
      Avinash Kale
      DATE

    Expert’s Advice

In gynecomastia cases up to Grade 3, we use ultrasonic lipolysis along with nipple repositioning straps and proper strapping, which helps the skin tighten naturally and prevents sagging.

However, if the case is very severe and there is excess skin, sometimes skin removal may be necessary. But we usually wait for 6–8 months to allow natural skin contraction. If the skin does not shrink by then, only in the second stage do we plan for skin removal.

Our goal is to avoid unnecessary scarring.
